Most people collect at Málaga airport (AGP), where the major rental desks sit in the dedicated car-hire building a short walk from the terminal. You can also pick up in Marbella, Fuengirola and other coastal towns. Bring your driving licence, the booking voucher and the card the reservation was made on.

What insurance do I need for a rental car in Spain?

Basic third-party cover is included by law, but it leaves an excess (deductible) of often €1,000 or more on damage and theft. You can reduce this to zero with the rental company's full cover, or use a separate excess-reimbursement policy. Always check whether tyres, windscreen and the undercarriage are covered.

What is the minimum age to rent a car on the Costa del Sol?

Most companies rent from age 21, and a few from 18, but drivers under 25 usually pay a young-driver surcharge per day and may be limited to smaller cars. You normally need to have held your licence for at least one to two years. Non-EU licences may require an International Driving Permit.
